“The Original” BobbiO’s Pizza
Casual dining focusing on good prices, large portions in a friendly atmosphere- throwing in a touch of pop culture and local community support. Bobbio’s pizza is hometown comfort.
History of Bobbio’s:
In 1986, a pair of hard-working small businessman joined together with their wives to start an exciting new restaurant in the Rogue Valley. Having a passion for good food, a fun atmosphere, and a nostalgic want for a 50’s style place, these people formed an alliance-Bobbio’s Pizza
Together they brought a former deli owner with a bakery owner Bob Kline he had been serving Medford sandwich form his “squeeze in” sandwich shop. Bob Berg had a business serving the area fresh baked goods for the “Jacksonville Bakery”
Both men were passionate restaurateurs looking to fill a need in the area for a fun location to eat great pizza along with awesome sandwiches and hot off the oven cookies and cakes.
Young Tom Brown was brought in from the very first day to help in their endeavor, actually helping to finish building their great business. Tom’s father, still a local police office, found him this job from his contact with Bob Berg at Jacksonville bakery (cops and donuts, get it?)
Officer Brown realized the need for his 17 years old son to get out there and start working for a living and by 1987 Bobbios Pizza was one of the elite places to eat in Medford. The store had expanded to include the interior block of Main Street at Riverside. The were lots of employees dressed like soda jerks, roller skating waitress and a 50’s automobile inside the bakery end. Business was thriving enough to consider opening a second location.
Central Point Bobbio’s was born, located in the heart of downtown was a small pick up establishment in which Tom was to run in partnership with his father and the 2 Bobs. Not long after that Tom Brown retired from Law enforcement and opened a third location in White City. Bobbio’s was a household name by the mid 90’s.
The Central Point location moved to a larger location to offer seated dinning, business was thriving at all 3 locations for several years. Unfortunately like all good things they come to an end. The original store had ownership indifferences and could not maintain, central point was not long behind when some of the same issues come along. Young Tom Brown moved to Seattle to find better career opportunities. Tom Brown Jr. returned form Seattle to support his father and keep the Bobbio’s name alive. Bobbio’s Pizza, White City still enjoys a bustling amount of customers even in its tiny location where the name lives on and is ready to re-commit to the Central Point Community.
Thank you for supporting Bobbio’s and its 20 year history……
